I used to sell merchandise such as office furniture, home office chairs, and computer desks when I was putting myself through college, and worked on a commission-only basis. Selling items such as office furniture, home office chairs, and computer desks may sound lucrative or even glamorous at times, but I can assure you that it was not. I worked against a commission draw, which essentially created a scenario so that I was paid each month a certain amount, even if I sold not one unit of office furniture, home office chairs, or computer desks. However, what this equated to was that I owed that amount of salary back to my employer the following month, as soon as I had successfully sold an item of office furniture, home office chairs, and/or computer desks. This scenario always had me insecure about finances, and I was always nervous that I would not meet my quota and would have to repay my commission draw. Thus, things like office furniture, home office chairs, and computer desks became components of my sleeping and waking nightmares, as I never knew if I would sell any of the office furniture, home office chairs, and/or computer desks.
